Introduction

The client had renewable energy generation and consumption data, but it was spread across reports and files, making it hard to see what was happening day to day. The objective of this Power BI Dashboard was to bring demand, supply, plant performance, and cost views into one place so teams could quickly compare regions, track trends, spot gaps, and make faster decisions without digging into spreadsheets.

We built a multi-page Power BI dashboard with clear navigation and drill-downs. The Overview page summarizes generation vs consumption, region-wise comparison, energy source mix, sector-wise consumption, and renewable generation trends. The Demand & Supply page focuses on demand vs supply trend (including rolling averages), sectoral breakdowns, daily production by source & location, and net energy gap (surplus vs deficit). The Operations page tracks plant performance with availability vs utilization, downtime hours by reason, lost energy breakdowns, and actual vs expected generation variance. The Finance page connects cost to output with plant-wise value comparisons, top cost contributors, and regional cost benchmarks making performance and efficiency easy to review in minutes.

Business Impact

After the dashboard was rolled out, stakeholders could instantly see how generation, consumption, and demand gaps were moving across regions and time periods. Operations teams got a clearer view of downtime drivers and lost energy, helping them prioritize corrective actions. Finance teams could compare cost vs output to identify high-cost / low-return plants and focus efficiency efforts. Overall, the business moved from spreadsheet-based reporting to a quicker, more proactive review cycle.
